Right to Work Checks are changing, and employers need to be ready before 1 October 2026.
The Home Office has confirmed changes to Right to Work Checks that will extend requirements beyond traditional employees. From 1 October 2026, the scope will include workers, individual subcontractors, agency workers and online matching services, bringing gig-economy roles, such as delivery riders, care workers and platform-based cleaners, into scope for the first time.
