Here are five top tips for what to look out for when carrying out your regular fire door checks.
> GAPS - Use a gap gauge to measure the gaps around the sides and top of your fire doors.
They should be between 2-4mm.
> SEALS & HINGES - Ensure there are at least 3 hinges, no screws missing and intumescent seals around the door frame.
> DOOR CLOSERS - Ensure the door closes firmly into the frame and latches without sticking.
> MARKING - All fire doors should have appropriate fire door signage such as 'Fire Door Keep Shut'.
> CERTIFICATION - Look for a certification mark on the door - usually a sticker or coloured plug on the edge or top of the door.
