In the last six months, the cost-of-living crisis has exacerbated already volatile market conditions, which also reflect the extreme weather that affected Europe in the latter half of 2022. We hope that Navigator will function as a useful tool in providing more detail behind the prevailing conditions in each market.
Despite the volatility we are still seeing, there is still scope for cautious optimism looking forwards, as the recession is reducing demand and we are starting to see price inflation and availability stabilise on some categories and ingredients. However, this could easily be nullified by the impact of poor harvests caused by the dry weather last year or China coming out of its lockdown and putting pressure on demand across markets worldwide.
